I have a sleep test tonight. Yuck. I was absolutely miserable during the last one. When you walk into the room it looks like a hotel room. Don't be fooled because the bed and pillows are hard as rocks. Then they hook you up to fifty wires and you're supposed to sleep. Heehehehehe. I slept three hours last time and it took an hour to fall asleep. That pillow gave me the worst headache too. I have already decided that I will take my own pillow tonight. I'm also taking a book and if I wake up at 3 a.m. and can't go back to sleep I'm reading for a while. Last time I laid there for three hours and was about ready to rip off the wires and run out of there.
The reason I have to go through this again is because I keep waking up at night. I have started going back to sleep but they think my sleep apnea may not be completely gone. If I still have it I'm having the soft palate removed I am NOT using that CPAP again. The mask for it makes me claustrophobic. I never really knew I had that until I tried wearing the darn thing. I tense up just thinking about it.

Good luck! I've never done one of those, but it doesn't sound like a lot of fun.
Are you still snoring a lot, too? You feel a whole lot better after your last surgery, though ... right?
Gosh, I hope everything's okay and you don't have to have anymore surgery.
Hugs!
I'm not snoring anymore, but I still wake up during the night so they want to figure out why. Apparently, it is possible to have sleep apnea without snoring. It would be very mild though.
I do feel alot better, but I get really sleepy during the day.
How'd it go? Glad I got to talk to you before the test. I'm betting you are pretty darn grumpy right about now.
I slept for about six hours so that isn't too bad. I took my own pillow this time and that helped alot. I also got a more experienced tech. I think that was because of last time. She knew my file inside and out and made sure I was as comfortable as possible.
She told me I still have sleep apnea. The Dr. had told her not to wake me for treatment because he wanted to report to my ENT whether I will need more surgery. I will go see the Dr. soon and find out the exact results.
Aw, sweetie, I'm so sorry you're still going through this. Let us know what we can do to help. I was really, really hoping it would just be behavioral...
Glad to hear the test is done. Hope you don't need more surgery. I'm assuming alot of the surgery has been in the sinus and palat areas? I had sinus surgery a few years ago. It was the most f*cking miserable experience of my life, but worth it. I had no idea breathing could be like this!
And just in case you don't go back and see my comment to your comment on my blog... I'm posting it here for you.
Cheryl: You know I remember that time sitting with your father. He even offered me cake! I thought your Dad was pretty cool 'cause he talked to me like a regular guy, not just some kid dating his daughter. Sitting and talking to him just seemed like the right thing to do at the time, always a good idea to make a good impression with the parents. I can't believe they still remember that though. That's so cool! :-) Suddenly I feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Hope your folks are doing okay.
Tell your Dad thanks for the cake! :-D
Yeah, tonsills and adenoids were taken out in July. I didn't know what it was like to breath until after that. It opened up everything. However, they didn't touch my soft palate and apparently that is causing problems still. I'll find out soon what to do about it.
I forgot my Dad offered you cake. You were the first guy to ever just sit down and talk so he was impressed by you. Most guys just wanted to sprint for the door.
Glad the test is over even if you don't know what comes next. One step at a time will get you through it. Good luck girl.
Sorry you may be facing surgery again. Soooo, what kind of cake was it?
I think the only time I ever really went over to your house was that time we had ... oh, I don't know, it was like a mystery-solving party or something like that. A mystery scavenger hunt? Can't remember, just running around the neighborhood like crazy. And then there were all the times Laura Lockhart and I picked you up for play rehearsal ... good times.
Seems like you ladies were always in some play or another. I was perpetual stage crew until Kelly forced me to try out for a part my senior year. Somehow I got the lead in Death of a Salesman. And it wasn't even a school play, it turned out to be a State Competition... not sure I ever forgave her for that! I did get to kiss Julie Rainy though! So it wasn't all bad. :-)
Well, keep us posted on your progress. I'll be sending good vibes your way! I've been through all that myself and really understand what you're going through.
Kelly: It was a mystery party and Ian was the bad guy. That was one of best parties I've ever had.
Biscuit: I don't remember the cake, so I have no idea.
So did you pass??? (smiling)
Yes, she passed gas. Can you imagine being one of the techs that watch the sleepers? Y'know, people do freaky stuff while sleeping, especially those who do not sleep well!
And Chris, you know you loved it!
Lola: No, I still have Sleep Apnea.
Kelly: Apparently, I move alot in my sleep. One of the wires came off my leg during the night and she had to wake me up to fix it. I commented that I move around when sleeping alot and the tech responded with "Yeah, you do."
Hipster: If you fail a sleeping test do you wake up??? Just sayin...
Kelly: Loved which part? Being in a play or kissing Julie Reny?
