my house

This is a picture of what my house used to look like. As of last Monday the siding guys showed up and began working on it. We now have new siding. The house went from blue to brown in five days. It looks great and several of my neighbors have commented on how good the house looks. You can't tell in the pictures, but it was starting to look like it needed work. The house is 21 years old and had been blue the whole time so I decided it needed a change. We've only owned it for eight of those years. We still have to paint the front door and paint the base of the house to match. The base is still blue.

When the guys showed up the head of the work crew asked me if my daughter was my grandaughter or my daughter. I told him she was mine. He back peddled quickly telling me his kids were teenagers. All I could think was "do I look that old?" I know I don't, but in certain circles I guess I could be a grandma to a three-year-old.

I'll post a pic of the completed house later right now it's raining and I can't take a picture yet.

I keep thinking about how when my mom was MY age (36), I was 16, my big brother was 18, and my little brother was 13. Just 6 years later, she was a grandmother. I can't imagine being a grandmother in 6 years!
On another note, I was at a birthday party this weekend and was talking to a guy who said he knew some people from our high school. I asked who they were and he said, "Oh, I think you're too young to know them." I asked what year and he said 1985 - so I told him I was class of 1987. His mouth dropped open - he thought I was 5-10 years younger. Yeah for me!

So did he tell you who they were?

Isn't it strange to realilze we aren't much younger than our parents were when we were in high school? Oh well, my oldest is seven so hopefully I have a at least 15 years before he becomes a parent.

People always think I'm younger than I am so it really threw me when he asked that. LOL. Don't you love look younger than your age. I have to admit when I was younger it irritated me, but now I like it.

So, who did he know, Kelly? Enquiring minds want to know!

HippyChick, I would have a hard time adjusting to a new color house. It would freak me out.
