kids

The remanents for Rits passed through last night spawning more tornadoes for us. It certainly made the afternoon interesting. I was watching something that I had recorded on the DVR when I heard the sirens go off. As soon as I turned the TV to a local channel to hear what was going on Stephen (my son) went into "must have Mommy's attention mode." How do kids do that? Sometimes I swear that my kids are psychic. If I'm doing something that requires Mom's attention they will insist on bouncing around in front of me wanting to tell me something. I know this is normal, but it drives me crazy.

Though speaking of psychic children, one time when Stephen was two he did something that freaked out his day care teacher. I'll start from the beginning here. I was at work and quickly approaching 40 hours and needed to leave early so I wouldn't go into overtime so I was discussing with my boss that I should leave about 2 p.m. Around this same time Stephen was napping at school. When he awoke from his nap he started telling his teacher that I was coming to pick him up, and she was assuring him that at 5 we would be there.

Five minutes later I walked through the door to get him. She jumped in surprise to see me. Then she asked if had told Stephen I was picking him up early. When I told her no her eyes got really wide and she told me about his insisting I was coming right then to pick him up. I had always felt some sort of connection to my kids, but that was one of those weird moments.

Have they gotten to where when you are on the phone...they are like Mom, mom, mom, MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...or when you are in the bathroom they begin knocking on the door, mom what are you dooooin'? Showers are a guaranteed interupt...and we cannot talk through the curtain we have to see my face...so yeah I am with ya on the kids and their pychic ability to torment when your attention needs to be somewhere else...but they never need me when I am not busy...LOL Gotta love 'em!

Mom and I used to have the same dreams when I was a kid. Literally identical dreams. She worked nights, so I would see her when she woke up in the evening to get ready for work. We would compare notes on her dreams that day with my dreams the night before. Here's the weird part: the common dream was that I was getting married. In Florida. To a blonde guy with blue eyes. When I married Fritz she got all upset because "he's the wrong guy."

Yeah, I know. She would have said that anyway.

Fritz used to have that same kind of connection to his mom. There was one time we were coming back from vacation in Gulf Shores and he was almost drove off the road at 3:00 a.m. He and his mom jolted awake at the exact same moment and looked at the clock. She had been dreaming that he had driven off the road.

Lola: oh yes, mom cannot be alone in the bathroom.

Suzie: little did she know you needed to marry Fritz to meet Mr. Right. I guess all mom's have a connection to their kids.

Thank all the fates that I don't have that kind of connection with Marian. There wouldn't be enough Thorazine to hold me...

And Pammy, I know for a fact that you do the door tappin', too, so you're reaping fair karma.

I, on the other hand, leave people alone when they are trying to evacuate their bowels, and don't think it's too much to freakin' ask that I get to be LEFT ALONE in the potty!!!!

Argh....
